Anantha N. Kamath, M.D.

Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Kamath specializes in the nonsurgical / minimally invasive treatment of musculoskeletal, orthopedic, and spinal disorders using fluoroscopic guided spinal interventional procedures including Epidural Steroid Injections, Facet Joint Injections, Radiofrequency Ablation for both the lower back and neck. He also has expertise in Kyphoplasty for osteoporotic or malignant spine fractures in the middle and lower back; Spinal Cord Stimulation trials for chronic intractable pain due to multiple spine surgeries, neuropathy and inoperable vascular disorders of the legs; and Diagnostic Discography for determination of levels for surgical fusion.

Good spinal health, educated approach and carefully selected intervention is at the heart of Dr. Kamath’s practice. Being an orthopedic surgeon, he artfully connects acute and chronic issues that impede health and recovery. He is a strong proponent of regular exercise, physical therapy and mindful living practices that enhance quality of life. His comprehensive training and wide clinical experience affords him proficiency in injections for the knees, hips, and shoulder joints. Dr. Kamath has long standing relationships with all the physical therapists in the community with whom he often collaborates. His team of staff is trained in coaching patients to follow simple and doable exercise regimens that can promote good spinal health.

Dr. Kamath obtained his medical degree from the University of Bombay, India (Mumbai University), followed by a residency in Orthopedic Surgery in India. After moving to US, Dr. Kamath completed two years of orthopedic surgical fellowship at Boston University. He then proceeded to complete a residency program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Boston University School of Medicine. He completed the residency in 2001 as a Chief Resident in PM&R. Dr. Kamath then joined Resurgens Orthopedics in 2001, and served the communities in Austell, Douglasville, Marietta, and Woodstock. After 8 successful years, in 2009 he joined Comprehensive Pain Management, and extended his practice area to Dallas, Powder Springs, Carrollton, and Roswell.

Dr. Kamath’s new practice, the Center for Spine Interventions, with offices in Dallas and Douglasville is proud to serve those with musculoskeletal, orthopedic, and spinal disorders whose life is interrupted by pain. Dr. Kamath is a committed compassionate and caring physician who believes in the holistic and mindful approach, not just to medicine but to life.

Besides his work, Dr. Kamath’s biggest passion is stand-up comedy. Having performed at a local comedy club, he enjoys making people laugh and laughing with people. Finally, Dr. Kamath likes to travel to discover the world; he thinks, that’s how you discover yourself.
